Johnny's Dairy is a family owned business that has been in the dairy industry in Utah since 1947. Our dairy farm is located in Taylor, Utah. The herd consists of 300 milking cows and 180 heifers and calves. Battista and Gisella Ropelato, our grandparents, immigrated from Italy and started farming at this location in 1947 when they started a herd of only 10 cows. In 1968, Battista's two sons, Bob and Gene, took over the farm operation. The operation began to grow into what it has become today. The main emphasis has been about milking cows and Registered Holsteins. Our current herd has grown to what it is today through breeding and key purchases. Johnny's Dairy began processing and bottling milk in 1962. We are a producer-handler, which means that we own and control the process - from our herd of registered Holsteins and Jerseys, to our processing plant, to the gallon of milk on your store shelf. By doing this, we provide you the freshest and best tasting milk!
Milk from Johnny's Dairy is not hauled hundreds of miles before it reaches your refrigerator. Generally, milk is hauled from the farm miles and miles to the plant where it is bottled. Then it must be hauled hundreds of miles to the store. It's days before you are able to purchase your milk. Johnny's milk is delivered to our customers within hours from the time it comes from the cow. Our milk is pumped from the local milking barn, to the local bottling area, then loaded on our trucks and delivered to our customers, never being exposed to any light that can destroy precious vitamins. All types of light, fluorescent or sunlight, can sap the Vitamin A and Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) from milk.
